Preventive Care

The best dental work is the kind you never need — because we caught it early.

Most dental problems are preventable. The ones that aren't are almost always easier to treat when they're caught early. That's the whole idea behind preventive care — keep your mouth healthy so the big stuff never happens.

What We Do

Professional Cleanings

No amount of brushing and flossing at home can replace a professional cleaning. Our hygienists remove plaque and tartar from places you can't reach — particularly along the gum line and between teeth. For most patients, we recommend cleanings twice a year. If you're managing gum disease, we may recommend more frequent visits.

Comprehensive Exams

At every visit, your doctor checks for cavities, gum disease, bite issues, and signs of wear or damage. We're looking for problems before you feel them.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer screening is a routine part of your exam. We check your tongue, the floor of your mouth, your gums, and the soft tissue of your cheeks and throat. When oral cancer is caught early, the outcome is dramatically better. This takes a few minutes and could save your life.

Digital X-Rays

We use digital radiography, which produces sharper images with significantly less radiation than traditional film x-rays. The images appear on-screen instantly, so we can review them with you in real time. X-rays reveal what the eye can't see — decay between teeth, bone loss, infections below the gum line, and developing problems that haven't caused symptoms yet.

Dental Sealants

Sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth. The grooves in molars are natural traps for food and bacteria, especially in children. Sealants fill those grooves and provide years of protection against decay. The application is quick, painless, and doesn't require any drilling.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and increases resistance to decay. For children with developing teeth, it's especially important. For adults, fluoride treatments can help reverse the earliest stages of cavity formation before a filling is ever needed.

What You Do

The work we do in the office only goes so far. What happens at home between visits matters just as much.

Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Two minutes, morning and night. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months — or sooner if the bristles are frayed.

Floss once a day. It doesn't matter whether you floss before or after brushing. It matters that you do it. Flossing removes plaque and food particles from between teeth where your toothbrush can't reach.

Watch what you eat between meals. Sugary snacks and drinks between meals feed the bacteria that cause cavities. It's not about cutting sugar entirely — it's about not grazing on it all day.

Don't skip your appointments. We know life gets busy. But regular visits are the single most effective thing you can do to avoid costly, uncomfortable dental work down the road.

Our Technology

We invest in modern equipment because it makes your care better and your visits more comfortable. Digital x-rays mean less radiation and faster results. Our sterilization protocols exceed industry standards — every instrument is heat-sterilized, and our equipment is regularly tested and monitored. Our treatment rooms are equipped with the latest tools, and our team participates in continuing education to stay current.

You shouldn't have to think about whether your dentist's equipment is up to date. At our office, it is.
